Joyell has 21 years of experience working in the Pinellas County Tax Collector's Office. Her motto is "servant leadership" because she has a passion for being a public servant. In addition, Joyell has built a reputation for excellence as a leader.
Joyell started her career as a Tax Clerk working her way up into a leadership role as a Tax Supervisor. Her wealth of experience and knowledge of the organization is unequaled. She has led in the following areas: Real Estate and Tangible taxes, Tourist Development Taxes, Bankruptcy, Corrections, Homestead Liens, Concealed Weapons, Mailroom, Call Center, Driver Licenses, and Registrations/Titles. Her reputation as a leader is exceptional because she has integrity, respect, and is a hard worker. She is committed to helping others succeed and serving the citizens. Joyell has been awarded many awards during her tenure that confirm her high standard of leadership. Some of her achievements were the Deputy Award for Customer-Focused Excellence, Leadership Award, and Most Valuable Player Award.
Joyell's passion is to be elected as Tax Collector and change the face of government. Delivering excellent customer service is an extreme passion of hers. She strongly believes in valuing people and helping them find their purpose. She is committed to serving those she has had the opportunity to work shoulder to shoulder with over the years because she believes "if you treat your employees well, they will treat the citizens exceptionally well." Once elected, she is committed to being present and accountable to the needs of the customers, bringing back uprightness, honesty, and strong values to the organization, and treating employees fairly and equitable.The Pinellas County Tax Collector's office must be the front runner with innovation while being a good steward of public funds. She is committed to improve fiscal accountability by reducing tax waste, eliminate exorbitant six digit salaries, and crony favoritism. She will revamp the current processes in order to reduce customer wait times, ensure staff and public safety, implement online options, and increase mail and phone services. She plans to provide accessibility to under-served areas of the county to offer exceptional customer service while being secure and efficient.
Joyell has served the citizens of Pinellas County for the last 21 years working for the Pinellas County Tax Collector's office. Her passion is servant leadership and believes in giving back to the community. She, along with her team, orchestrated a sock drive for the homeless, backpacks for elementary students in need, and a gift drive for needy families. She also volunteers as a Cheerleading Coach for One Community Now which is a non-for-profit organization that help meet the un-met needs in Tampa Bay. She has volunteered for Food for the Hungry and a food pantry. She sponsors a child in Peru through Compassion International so he doesn't have to live a life of poverty. Bullying Prevention is a passion of hers so she created a curriculum called "Break the Chains" to teach our young people Interpersonal skills. She believes if our young people can understand each other's differences, they can learn to get along and end bullying.
Joyell is finishing up her Bachelor's degree, with one last semester in the fall, in Organizational Leadership Management. She is a Certified Florida Collector Assistant, Certified Public Manager, Certified Six Sigma Greenbelt, Certified Achieve Global Trainer, Certified True Colors Facilitator, and Certified Project Manager.
